Crusaders Head For Wolves Lair

Posted on: Thu 04 Mar 2010

CRUSADERS star Nick Youngquest insists the side will be ready to face the in-form Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones this Sunday.

Confidence is high in the Crusaders camp after two successive victories against Salford City Reds and Hull FC, the first time the club has recorded back-to-back wins in Super League.

But now the Welsh side face possibly their toughest challenge yet when they visit the Wolves in Round 5. Big-Spending Warrington have won three of their opening four fixtures, and the current Challenge Cup holders are coming off a hard-fought 10-14 victory over Huddersfield Giants.

But Youngquest, 26, who scored a brace of tries against Hull FC, says the Crusaders will be more than ready to meet the Wolves' threat.

"They've got some good players, a lot of internationals", said Youngquest. "Guys like Adrian Morley and Matt King are quality players. Warrington are pretty good all over the park but we've just got to concentrate on our own performance and make sure we give a good account of ourselves on Sunday."

"They proved last week against Huddersfield that they can grind out a result too. We've got to build on the performances we've put in over the past couple of games and continue to play well."

Crusaders have had the luxury of a week off, while Warrington had to come through bruising back-to-back encounters with Wigan Warriors and Huddersfield Giants. But Head Coach Brian Noble has not let the side rest on their laurels.

Youngquest added: "We've been working hard on our defensive efforts for the game and trying to get our attack right. Obviously we've had a week off but we've been training hard for in preparation for Sunday's game. We've been working on trying to cut out some of the errors and just improve on our all-round game."

On their last visit to the Halliwell Jones, Crusaders pushed the Wolves to their limit before eventually losing 27-22 in May 2009. Tries on the day came from Peter Lutpon, Darren Mapp and Matty Smith with Josh Hannay kicking three conversions.

Crusaders are heading for a record away support in Super League on Sunday when they travel to Warrington Wolves.

The club have already sold-out their initial allocation of 250 tickets and have ordered more from the Halliwell Jones Stadium. Another batch of tickets have arrived, priced at £10 for adults and £5 for children.

The club will also be putting on supporters' coaches to the game. Please contact the club shop on 01978 262129 for further information.
