WREXHAM more than matched their opponents when they last met in November, although ending up on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline away from home. This time around the Reds were up for the tie and hoping for a better result - although it was not to be.
Unfortunately we went 1-0 down on 21 minutes, following a defensive mistake, but then were unlucky not to be back level on 30 minutes after a Kirsty Jones strike was turned over for a corner, thanks to a super save from the Llanidloes keeper.
Wrexham went 2-0 down on 36 minutes and another narrow miss from Lowri Edwards saw the end to the first half.
The second half got worse for the home side, even though they battled away showing great determination and skill, and an overhead kick from Kirsty Jones on 65 minutes looked promising, but another brilliant save from the Llanidloes keeper kept the score at 2-0.
The mistakes kept on coming for Wrexham and Llanidloes capitalised on 75 minutes and another goal came just two minutes later - with the frustration beginning to show among the Wrexham players.
A vocal Dave Taylor egging the team on finally saw them earn a consolation goal on 83 minutes, with a well taken goal from Lowri Edwards.
Speaking after the game, Stephen Jones added:"We started well and should have done a lot better which we will next time. The mistakes cost us dearly and it is a hard result to stomach after starting so well."
