AFTER beating Llanidloes in our last two encounters, one thing was certain they were going to be up for it and indeed they were.
Dave Taylor's unbeaten Reds gave a debut to new signing Chloe Foster and a late fitness test to Steph Taylor, both players proved their places in a pulsating match.
Wrexham started very brightly and created some good early chances taking the game to the battle hardy daffodils of Llanidloes, and on 14 minutes, who else but LOWRI EDWARDS ran through onto a superb pass to slide the ball past the home keeper.
Llanidloes then took the game to Wrexham and for most of the first half it was pretty much end-to-end with mid Wales side having most of the possession but the Reds creating the better chances. Against the run of play we could have been 2-0 up, after a wonderful strike from debutant Chloe Foster hit the crossbar
Half time 1-0
Llanidloes really took the game to Wrexham in the second 45 minutes, they dictated the play and created threatening chances, and it was only a matter of time before they got themselves back into the game and deservedly so with a bullet header on the hour.
Only a minute later and it could have been two for the home side but Wrexham keeper Amber Dean managed to tip the ball onto the bar.
As the game went on Wrexham created more and earned a freekick, which the referee appeared to allow to be taken quickly and Foster headed home for what would have capped an excellent debut, only for the referee to call it back to be retaken.
For the most part of the remaining 20 minutes it looked increasingly like Llanidloes would get the win, but in the last five minutes a 35 yard strike from unlikely goal hero ALIXE TAYLOR sealed the win after the impressive Llanidloes keeper miscalculated the shot.
A really tough battle, but the Dragons go into the hat for the quarter finals and still maintain their impressive 100% start.
