Despite the Daggers not having won a home league since the first day of September, there can be no real argument that they didn't deserve this victory against a Wrexham side that just didn't rise to the standards they had set themselves earlier in the week.
The Dragons were never a real threat in front of goal and although the final score line gave the home fans plenty to cheer about, the overall game was a great deal closer.
The torrential rain that struck the rest of the UK somehow in the main missed out Dagenham and although the pitch was heavy, the game kicked off in dry (skyward) conditions, which was just as well for the majority of the traveling Wrexham support, who were housed on an open terrace behind the goal that Anthony Williams was defending.
Having said that, the players were kicking up a fair amount of spray at the opposite end of the ground, with both Michael Proctor and Marc Williams having to wade through standing water to chase the ball when on the attack.
It was fully 20 minutes before either side raised their game enough to have an effort on goal and that came from Daggers right winger Jon Nurse, whose effort from outside the penalty area was well held by Williams.
A corner for the home side quickly followed, but Chris Llewellyn broke away and after running 50-yards literally got bogged down on the edge of the home box, slowing him up enough for two defenders to recover their ground and clear the danger.
Robbie Garrett then repeated Llewellyn's long run, ending up at a corner flag but still being able to cross deep for Proctor, but the striker mishit his effort and it spun away from goal.
On 24 minutes the home side broke down the right and Nurse's ball into the danger zone was aimed at Dominic Green, but Steve Evans, a yard in front of the Daggers man somehow managed to bundle the ball passed his own keeper to give Dagenham the lead.
Following a couple of Wrexham corners, the home side broke away with midfielder Glen Southam carrying the ball over the half way line before sliding a pass out to this left. This allowed Green to get a sight of goal, but his chip carried high and over the Wrexham crossbar.
The home team had the upper hand and on a wet surface were delivering as many balls as possible into the Wrexham goalmouth, looking for another slice of luck.
After 38 minutes, Southam went inside of Valentine before sending over a dipping effort that Williams did well to tip away for a corner.

Brian Little made a tactical change at the break by introducing Sam Aiston as a winger instead of Wes Baynes and switching to a 4-4-2 line-up.
Southam was again involved in some good work eight minutes after the restart when his cross was cleared, but only as far as Shane Huke, although the midfielder blazed his shot high into the darkening skies.
There was a booking for Valentine after 63 minutes for rattling the ankles of Anwar Uddin.
Shortly afterwards the heavens opened, with the rain teeming down on the soaked Wrexham fans, but they kept urging the teamand almost scored when Evans' header down was helped on by Neil Roberts but Dagenham's own Welshman, keeper Tony Roberts was able to smoother the danger on his own goal line.
A great sweeping move was started by Taff on 74 minutes, with Aiston finding Llewellyn down the left, then inside for Proctor, back to Aiston, before Proctor tried a curling effort that Tony Roberts picked out of the rain.
With 13 minutes left on came Matty Done for Neil Roberts, allowing Aiston to move to the right.
Immediately the Dragons won a corner and although Strevens headed firmly away, the ball sat up for Garrett to hit a drive that flew a few yards wide from 30-yards.
The final change from Little saw Josh Johnson for Marc Williams on 84 minutes, but it was to no avail as out of nothing substitute Ben Strevens picked up the ball in midfield and unleashed an unstoppable shot that flew passed Williams from 25-yards, giving the keeper no chance.
There was a final nail in the coffin for Wrexham when the home team's other sub Jamie Taylor struck two minutes into added time with an a low angled drive that arrowed into the net.
