Is this the new Wrexham - as after a marvellous fighting display we headed home with another precious point.

For the first time since taking over the reigns, Brian Little was able to name an unchanged starting line-up, his only alteration was on the bench, where goalkeeper Anthony Williams returned, meaning one less outfield player.

The Reds made a better start to the match than on their last visit in November, surviving longer than we managed then, when we fell behind after just 83 seconds.

United went at us in the opening minutes, looking to capitalise on the pace of their frontmen, but Wrexham dug in to repel the home team's efforts, although Craig Mackail-Smith and Aaron Mclean in particular were proving dangerous.

From a third corner after just nine minutes, Drewe Broughton drove the ball low across to the back post where full back Claude Gnakpa's attempted clearance struck Chris Llewellyn full in the face just six-yards out and as the ball rebounded goalwards, keeper Joe Lewis reacted well to dive to his left and smother it.

On 19 minutes, defender Chris Westwood did well to head behind Neil Roberts' left wing cross, following a great ball out to the flank by P

From the corner, the ball was then played in by Neil Taylor and Bolland's header was unlucky to finish up on the top of the Peterborough net.

Two minutes later a long ball through the middle was headed back by to Chris Llewellyn, who from 22-yards, fired in a rising shot that Lewis held well.

Gnakpa then jumped with Broughton on 22 minutes, with the United player catching the Wrexham man in the face, which was to earn him the first yellow card of the afternoon.

The free kick was put behind for a Wrexham corner and when Sonner sent over the flag kick, Posh's Charlie Lee headed against his own post. The ball rebounded into the penalty box, but Robert's placed effort was blocked by the packed home defence.

Then on 38 minutes Peterborough showed the threat they carry, when Boyd danced to the by-line before crossing to the edge of the six-yard box, where Mclean was unmarked amongst a number of red shirts, but their leading scorer was unable to direct his effort on target.

A long ball over the top by United on 52 minutes, forced Gavin Ward to race out of his area to knock the ball away from Mackail-Smith, it dropped to Boyd and you could see the winger had ideas of firing into an empty net, but the red shirts simply closed him down.

From a Peterborough corner on 55 minutes, Nicholson broke forward and after racing 70 yards, looked up to see Llewellyn joining him down the middle, but the West Brom man's attempted pass was badly under hit.

Nicholson's persistence on the hour saw him retain the ball and slip a pass inside to Roberts who found the overlapping Spender and his low shot was fumbled by Lewis. This allowed Nicholson to dive in, but the keeper was able to recover and grab the ball by his near post.

The game was beginning to get stretched and the Posh were making some pressure count on their visitors, which included Bolland heading behind to deny Mackail-Smith.

A change by both sides on 68 minutes saw Proctor on for Evans and Mitchell replaced Newton.

After the substitution Spender cross into the home box saw Broughton head down and as Llewellyn chased after the ball, Gnakpa and Lewis clashed heads, before Morgan could put behind for a corner.

From the flag kick, Lewis left his line leading with a fist and collided with the incoming Steve Evans, which resulted in all 20 outfield players getting involved in a wee stremash, as the keeper lay flat out. He received lengthy treatment before being stretchered off and replaced by James McKeown on 77 minutes, delaying the game for about six minutes.

With the crowd now into the game after what they saw as an injustice with the keeper's injury, the pressure mounted again. Ward was called upon twice in two minutes to deny both Mackail-Smith and Boyd.

A Wrexham free kick from the right was flick on by Broughton; Evans touched it on, spun round and lobbed an angled effort that dipped over the home cross bar.

With two minutes of the 90 left, on came Jeff Whitley for the tremendous Danny Sonner, who was applauded by the travelling fans. Two minutes later Broughton left the scene with Rob Duffy making his second appearance for the Reds, as seven minutes of added time were indicated.

In the sixth minute of added time Morgan headed across the face of the Wrexham goal for Mackail-Smith to net, but the whistle went against the Wales international for a push on Taylor.

This was the last action of the match, which ended with Wrexham extending their unbeaten run to five games.
