THE Dragons went down to a first half goal by former Red Tom Craddock, who fired at Sam Russell and although the keeper got both hands to the ball it still ended up in the net.
After the break Wrexham looked livelier, but even though a Fleming effort crashed against the crossbar, there was no comeback for the visitors.
Defender Mike Williams returned to the starting line-up following the suspension being served by Frank Sinclair, in the only change to the side that faced Altrincham at the Racecourse in midweek.
Luton's Keith Keane was the first to try their luck, but from distance keeper Russell gets his body behind the bouncing effort.
The home side were enjoying plenty of early possession and it wasn't until the 16th minute that Christian Smith held off his marker, pushed forward but from 25-yards, dragged his effort well wide.
Silvio Spann conceded a free kick 25-yards out and the headed the kick behind for a corner, which Heslop was unable to connect with properly when the cross came in.
Midway through the first half and a great piece of inter-passing by Luton ended when former Wrexham striker Tom Craddock mishit his effort with the goal at his mercy!
Smith made a good challenge on Keane to win the ball with what looked a fair challenge, but unluckily ended up with a booking, and he was joined by Ashley Westwood, who also talked himself into the referee's book.
Nice play by Wes Baynes on the half hour saw the winger create some space for himself and his long-range effort had some power behind it.
Luton were still well on top, without really threatening the Welsh defence, but that changed on 36 minutes.
It was striker Tom Craddock who escaped down the left channel and got in a fierce shot away from the angle. It proved too hard for Russell, who could only push the effort onto his near post, the ball then spinning along the goal line and inside the far post!
Luke Holden was brought down on the side of the box and Luton full back Ed Asafu-Adjaye was booked as a result. The freekick was laid back to Mangan on the edge of the box, but his shot was blocked by sea of orange shirts.
Ht 1-0
Spann's cross from the right was caught by keeper Mark Tyler and Smith then barged him into the net (Nat Lofthouse style) but for some strange reason it was disallowed!
A Luton corner was knocked down by Simon Heslop and Jake Howells' effort whistled over Russell's cross bar.
The keeper them had to race the edge of his box to block Freddie Murray as the midfielder ran through - in the follow up he also saved Craddock's deflected shot.
Shortly after the hour, substitute Lamine Sakho rolled a ball across the box to Mangan but his shot deflected away for a corner.
Following another corner, Andy Fleming hit a rising 25-yarder that Tyler tipped onto his own bar and the ball rebounded back into play before being hooked clear.
Wrexham pinned back the Hatters, but their blanket defence made it hard to create clear cut opportunities.
Even with five minutes of added time, the visitors were unable to find a way through to Tyler and failed to turn their possession into an equalising goal.
