LAUNCHING the new 2007/08 away shirts at yesterday's Open Day proved to be a major success, as eager supporters formed big queues at the new look Club Shop to snap up the restyled LeaseDirect kit - with the added incentive of a £5.00 discount on the day.

Over 250 of the blue shirts were were sold as shop staff coped admirably with the constant high level of demand throughout the day.

Fans then took the opportunity to have their new tops signed by the players, who spent well over an hour signing thousands of autographs and having their pictures taken with supporters.

Chief Executive Anthony Fairlclough was delighted at the response.

"We obviously hoped that our fans would like the new kit, but we have been overwhelmed by the reaction," he said.

"The home shirts have been available for a couple of weeks and are selling well, but the uptake on the away kit has come as a pleasant surprise.

"We have plenty of shirts in stock, but it looks likely that we will be putting in a new order much earlier in the season than I was expecting!"

As a continuing experiment, the Club Shop will remain open until 6.00pm each weekday - so stop off at the Racecourse on your way home this week.
