FOR debutant midfielder Matty Collins the Shrewsbury game was a first taste of the frustration which has been a common post-match experience at The Racecourse this season.
"It was a frustrating afternoon. We came in after the first half thinkng that we could maybe pinch something from the game. But to be honest we never really got started in the second half.
"After they got their goal we looked desperate to score and resorted to the long ball game, being too direct, I feel, instead of being patient, playing through the midfield and trying to play our way into the game.
"We played into their hands in the second half, and we're disappointed about that. Looking back we would have changed things and tried to play more, but when you're on the pitch in the thick of it it's a lot harder to see such things.
Collins was sure, though, that the squad has what it takes to get away from the bottom of the table.
"I've only trained at Colliers Park once but they seem like a good set of lads. I trained on Friday and then played today so I haven't seen enough to get fully acquainted with them yet, but there were definitely signs today that the quality's there and what we have to do is get the ball down more and start playing. Then we should be fine and climbing up the table I'm sure."
The support the Racecourse crowd gave the side was another positive which Collins took from the match.
"There was a good atmosphere considering our home record. Understandably all our fans are anxious to get a result, as all the players are. Credit to the fans for getting behnd us and not creating a hostile atmosphere. They were great."
