WREXHAM will need to step up their level of performance at home as they take on Wycombe Wanderers at the Racecourse on Wednesday night (7.45pm).
The Dragons slumped to their tenth defeat of the season on Sunday, when local rivals Shrewsbury Town took all three points from the encounter in North Wales. Michael Symes' second half strike was enough for the visitors, who ended a run of seven games without a win.
Wrexham now look forward to their second home game in three days as Paul Lambert's Wycombe Wanderers outfit look to inflict another home defeat on the struggling Dragons.
Wanderers currently lie in ninth place in Coca-Cola League Two, two points behind Rotherham United who occupy the last play-off place. They are unbeaten in their last three games, having drawn against top-two clubs MK Dons and Chester City, as well as comfortably beating Grimsby Town 3-0.
Manager Lambert has been active in the transfer market in October, recruiting two players on loan. Leicester City goalkeeper Rab Douglas has moved to Adams Park after a month's loan at Millwall, and he will join Tommy Doherty in the Chairboys' line-up, the latter having re-joined the club on loan after an unsuccessful stint at Queens Park Rangers.
Wales striker Jermaine Easter will not appear at the Racecourse, however, following a loan move to Plymouth Argyle. Easter found the net 21 times in League Two last season and is likely to make the loan move permanent when the transfer window opens in January.
Brian Carey will have Silvio Spann available again after the midfielder served a one-match suspension following his dismissal against Notts County. Mike Carvill limped off before half-time against Shrewsbury and will be struggling to be available for selection.
With no substitute goalkeeper due to injury, Youth team keeper Chris Maxwell has been drafted into the squad, but Brian Carey might well choose to go with five outfielders on the bench, as he has done for the last few games.
Last Time Out
Wanderers took the points on their last visit to the Racecourse back in February, thanks to goals from Michael Williamson and Jermaine Easter.
The sides also met at Adams Park on the opening day of the 2006-07 season, where the spoils were shared. Tommy Mooney scored early on for the home side, but Mark Jones equalised for the Dragons with a long-range effort.
