Williams: What An Improvement!

Posted on: Fri 09 Nov 2007

ANTHONY Williams earned a second home clean sheet of the season against Wycombe as well as securing a point, but he felt it ought to have been three.

"In the situation we're in, you'd take a 0-0 against a side a high up the table before the game began, but after the first half it was a disappointment that we didn't win. Still, it was a much more positive changing room afterwards.

"The lads are quite happy with the game in general.

"It was a brilliant display in the first half. We played very well and they looked very ordinary. We had a couple of chances plus the penalty as well, so we were disappointed not to go in front by half time.

"The second half wasn't so good, but from my point of view it was a clean sheet.

"They were more of a threat in the second half. They had a lot of corners and some silly free kicks that we gave away. Over the course of the game we outplayed them though.

"In the second half we battled hard because they came out and played a lot better."

Williams was not interested in looking for excuses in the off-field distractions which have surrounded the team lately.

"Nothing's been said amongst the team. We only knew the same time as everyone else but nothing was said about that before the match at all.

"We know we have to focus on doing our jobs on the pitch and nothing else can be allowed to distract us."
