AFTER a break of five weeks since our last Pontin's League outing the second string swings back into action with a first ever visit to Christie Park and a game away to Morecambe.
This will be an opportunity for Brian Little to cast his eye over a number of his players in a competitive match, following on from his opening Football League encounter with Chester City last Sunday.
Midfielder Conall Murtagh is back in the frame after recovering from a horrible muscle tear, which the medical team at ColliersPark described as a 70% tear of a thigh muscle, which was a potential career ending injury.
Happily the Irishman has shown great determination to battle back to the point where he can start playing again and after a practice outing against a touring American team last week, he is ready to step up his fitness programme against the Shrimpers this evening.
As playing will be keeper Michael Jones, who has also endured a period on the sidelines with a hip injury and will, no doubt, relish the chance to show the new manager just what he can do.
With the size of the present first team squad, Joey Jones will also have the likes of Simon Spender, Ryan Valentine, Gareth Evans, Mike Carvill, Robbie Garrett, Mike Williams, Josh Johnson, Levi Mackin, Andy Fleming, Marc Williams and the on loan Matty Collins at his disposal.
The kick-off at Morecambe will be at 7.00pm.
