IT was all fun and games at this afternoon's Welsh Cup Final in Newtown, as Bangor City lifted the trophy after extra time victory over Llanelli, following dramatic scenes throughout the 120 minutes.

With former Wrexham youngsters Sion Edwards and Dave Swanick in their ranks, City soon found themselves a man short, as Peter Hoy was given his marching orders after just four minutes for a crude tackle on Llanelli's Craig Jones.

The Citizens still managed to make much of the early running against the league champions and on 20 minutes took the lead when Ashley Stott's long-range effort sailed over Reds keeper Duncan Roberts.

The men from Stebonheath Park hit back shortly after the interval, when Swanick put through his own net on 48 minutes and then the Welsh Premier's leading scorer and 'Player of the Year' Rhys Griffiths pushed his team in front just before the hour.

Llanelli lost their man advantage when Wyn Thomas was sent off with 24 minutes remaining, but still looked the more likely winners as the game went into added time.

With an additional two minutes played, Bangor levelled through Chris Seargeant's long-range shot, but this only sparked a pitch invasion involving City fans which also saw Llanelli keeper Roberts caught up in the ensuing melee.

When order was restored, the game moved into extra time, but a quick-fire double blast from veteran Marc Limbert (penalty) and Karl Noon ensured it was Bangor City who were left celebrating.

The Farrar Road club now qualify for the UEFA Cup in their own right and they will be playing their first round home game at the Racecourse Ground in July, either 17th or 31st.
