Three More Pre-Season Games
THE club is delighted to announce another three pre-season friendlies, as we prepare for our first season in the Blue Season Premier.
Following on the news that we will face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, 12 July (3.00), we will also play at home to Coca Cola League 1 side Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday, 22 July (7.30).
As our build-up continues there will be what is becoming an annual visit to Colwyn Bay, this year it will take place on Saturday, 26 July (2.00).
Then we will finish our pre-season schedule with a trip to Blue Square North side Stafford Rangers on Saturday, 2 August (3.00)
Considering we are fairly local rivals, we haven't faced Crewe since a League Cup clash at Gresty Road in 2003, which we lost 2-0 and also saw Brian Carey red carded in the last minute.
You have to go back to April 1997 for our last League meeting, when we fought out a 1-1 draw at the Racecourse - Mark McGregor scoring late on to cancel out a Seth Johnson strike.
At Llanelian Road, the Seagulls have had some good news after being swapped back into the North Section of the Unibond League for next season, which will save having to travel to Lincolnshire for league games.
They also have a new manager, as former player Steve Pope takes over the reigns
This week, they will be playing host to a couple of games in the Semi Pro - 4 Nations Tournament, when England face Scotland and Gibraltar at Llanelian Road.
A visit to Stafford Rangers will be a new experience for most of us, as the last time the clubs met was probably in the days of the Cheshire League, when our reserve team played the likes of Wigan, Bangor, Telford, Macclesfield and Stafford back in the 1960's.
There is likely to be at least one more game announced for Saturday, 19 July, while the team will also be playing a few closed door games as they prepare for the new campaign.
