THE club has secured another of its summer targets with the transfer of midfielder Tom Kearney from Halifax Town.
A former Everton trainee, the 27-year-old switches from the Shay on a two-year contract and will begin training with his new team mates this coming Friday at Colliers Park.
Due to the unfortunate problems which have engulfed Halifax Town during the recent months, it had not been possible to conclude Tom's move earlier, as he still has a year left on his present deal with the Shaymen.
We certainly had didn't want to be seen to be cherry picking Halifax's best players when they still had an opportunity of remaining in the Football Conference, but following their demotion to the Unibond League for financial reason, it was clear they would be unable to continue with their present staffing levels.
Dealings with Halifax have been very amicable and as a club which has been through not dissimilar problems, everyone at the Racecourse wishes the Yorkshire club a speedy return back up the pyramid.
Tom himself played a major part in Halifax overcoming their 10-point reduction last season and actually finishing above the relegation spots in the Blue Square Premier, but events off the field finally overtook them.
He played at the Shay for two seasons after leaving Bradford City, where he had spent four years since moving on from Everton.
