A FEW former Reds have been doing their best to get themselves fixed up with a new club in the run up to the coming season.
After spell with Gillingham, Drewe Broughton has being at Kenilworth Road and scored for Luton Town in their derby win at British Gas Business Southern League Premier Division Bedford Town.
After coming on midway through the first half, the big man notched a last minute striker in the Hatters' 3-0 success.
At Christie Park, Robbie Garrett has been on trial with Morecambe and featured in their 1-0 success at Burscough on Thursday evening, although he wasn't in their squad for Saturday's 3-0 home defeat to Preston North End.
His Northern Irish U21 team mate Mike Carvill, who has also worked out with Morecambe, has ventured north of the border to try his luck with SPL new boys Hamilton Accies and could well have turned out in a friendly at Berwick Rangers last week.
Meanwhile, Principality Welsh Premier club NEWI Cefn Druids have bolstered their squad with the signing of a second Lee Jones.
The 18-year-old defender was released by Wrexham at the end of last season after finishing his scholarship and turned down approaches from both The New Saints and Rhyl to sign for The Ancients.
Jones, who can play at right back or centre half, becomes Druids' second signing of the summer following the capture of Nicky Ward after having impressed in last Saturday's friendly against Warrington Town.
Druids' other Lee Jones - the joint player-manager - said: "It shows the ambition of the club that he turned down TNS and Rhyl to join us.
"We met with him last week and he contacted us saying he wanted to join to help make the club better on the pitch. He's a decent lad and was unfortunate to be released by Wrexham.
"He's a major signing for us."
Former striker Eifion Williams will be pulling his boots once again after being persuaded to turn our for the quaintly named Northern League Division Two club Jarrow Roofing FC.
"I have a friend who helps run the club and I've promised him that I would play," said Eifion.
"They have had a poor time of late, so I'll see if I can help them a little next season!"
Eifion is looking outside of football for his living though.
"I'm starting work in the probation service, which I'm looking forward to," he said.
"It's something which I think will give me a career, rather than just a job."
