Midfielder Given Trial

Posted on: Tue 22 Jul 2008

THE latest trialist to be given an opportunity to show his skills is former Chesterfield midfielder Adam Smith, a 23-year-old Yorkshireman.

Adam born in Huddersfield and spotted playing Sunday League Football. He was offered a professional contract with Chesterfield in 2004, but Tendonitis cut short his 2005/06 season after a good start - scoring against both Blackpool and Yeovil.

He suffered a similar injury in the 2006/07 season and had an operation towards the end of the season. During last season, he went out on loan to Lincoln City and made 4 appearances as a substitute.

Chesterfield did not offer him a new contract at the end of the 2007/08 season and he has been on trial at Darlington this summer.

During his four years at Saltergate the midfielder made just short of 90 appearances and scored four goals.
