WREXHAM boss Brian Little is to give an extended opportunity to midfield trialist Christian Smith, by offering the player a deal until the end of the month.

Currently without a club since his release from Scottish League Division 1 side Clyde, the former Port Vale youngster has been training with Wrexham for several weeks now and has appeared in a number of practice games.

The player has put his name to a short-term deal that will see him eligible for the club's opening games in the new Blue Square Premier season.

A decision will though have to be made on his future before 31 August, to prevent him from becoming isolated by the transfer window shutting.

"This is a good opportunity for me and I'm enjoying myself here," Christian said.

Meanwhile. former winger Josh Johnson has been working with Rhyl lately and got a run out in one of their recent friendlies.

"Josh did well, but we will need another look at him before deciding anything," said Belle Vue coach Alan Bickerstaff.
