Steve & Mike In Wales Squads
THE Reds have both Steve Evans and Mike Williams named in the up coming senior and U21 squads respectively.
John Toshack kicks off the next World Cup campaign with games against Azerbaijan in cardiff and Russia in Moscow, while Brian Flynn heads to Romania with the U21s.
Interesting to note that the likes of Wayne Hennessey, Gareth Bale, Ched Evans, David Cotterill, David Edwards, Chris Gunter, Sam Vokes and Aaron Ramsey are all named in both the senior and U21 parties!
In the wake of Wednesday's 2-1 defeat in a friendly against Georgia, Toshack admitted he would have little option but to pick non-League Wrexham's Steve Evans.
At the time the Wales manager said: "We do not have many alternatives at centre-back.
"Steve Evans, when he has played, has never let us down.
"People point to Wrexham's last season and his club now being outside the (Football) League, but if we look around there is not much choice.
"Chris Gunter can play a central role and Carl Fletcher has done it too - and we could try to use three defenders there to compensate.
"I am presented with an area of the field where we are very, very limited.
"I will want to look hard at what happened against Georgia - if you are not solid in the centre of defence you will be in trouble."
