WITH the Dragons currently playing in the BSP, our players now become available for selection for different international squads.

Even so, it was still something of a surprise to receive an email from the FA telling us that Carl Tremarco had been selected to represent the England C team in a friendly fixture with Bosnia & Herzegovina, which is to be played at the Grbavica Stadium in Sarajevo on Tuesday 16 September.

Not only that, but in the standby squad is Darran Kempson.

The fixture will be at under 23 level and will be vital in the preparation for the final International Challenge Trophy qualifying match in Italy in November

The party will be travelling to Bosnia on Sunday 14 September and returning to England on Wednesday 17.

As far as we can recall, the last time a Wrexham player was selected for England was the on loan Lee Roche, for their U21s against Finland in 2000.

Before that, it was Stuart Mason playing for England Youth in the mid-1960s.

England boss Paul Fairclough said: "We have lost a number of players from the squad which has taken us to within a point of qualifying for the International Challenge Trophy final.

"So this fixture gives me an ideal opportunity to look at some new players prior to the Italy game later in the year."

Carl was delighted when he heard the news: "I wasn't sure what to believe at first and then when I realised it was true, I remembered that my partner is expecting a baby just a few days before the match!

"Whatever happens though, it's a great honour."

For Darran, this is not his first inclusion at this level.

"I have played for the team before, in a Four Nations Tournament held at Eastbourne.

"It was against Wales, Scotland and Ireland and I think we finished as runners-up.

"I'm delighted to be in the manager's mind once again and hopeful that I might get a call into the travelling squad."
