Brown: Endeavour Is The Key

Posted on: Sun 28 Sep 2008

FOR Simon Brown the Torquay game hopefully represented a turning point, as Wrexham showed the sort of attributes required to turn things round.

"When you're in this sort of trouble the minimum you can ask is that everyone works hard to get you out of it." he said.

"The harder we work up front the easier it is for the guys at the back to squeeze up and it denies the opposition space.

"We kept getting balls back and we pressed them in the first half. It paid off with the goal; we were all pressing and Marc's made a great turn and fed me and I've managed to finish it."

There was a fearless element to Brown's goal too, as he dived in to drive it past the onrushing Scott Bevan, who is as huge as goalies get!

"You've always got to go in there; if there's a goal on I'll go in with any keeper, I'm not bothered. Luckily today it hit the back of the net," he said.

"It's always good to get a goal, whether it's from a penalty, a free kick or open play. I'm just glad we came away with a point today to end the run of losses. It was an all-round good performance!"

So what of the dramatic events before the match?

"We had to put that to the back of our minds and concentrate on the game," he said.

"We can speak about everything on Monday and sort everything out, but our first priority was to stop the run of losses, so we're happy with that."
