IT was a delighted Dean Saunders that reflected on today's come from behind victory at Mansfield Town this afternoon.
"We really had to show our battling qualities today, as I thought Mansfield gave it a real go," said the boss.
"They are a big side and very athletic. It was the other side of football, as for Joe and Levi in the middle, at times the ball was bypassing them.
"They had to compete with people in the middle and I just wanted to see if they could do it - and to be fair they did.
"The big disappointment was conceding from our own corner, after all the time we have spent working on just situations like that.
"Two little mistakes by us at the corner, then a dodgey backpass, which every Wrexham fans could see coming, but to be fair their lad has taken it well, going round the keeper and slotting it home.
"Yes, we had to come back from that, but we dug in and competed well.
"The frst goal was from a corner which we had worked on, so that was pleasing.
"While Marc has scored another goal to win the game for us. We had to hang on at the end, especially when they put four up front and threw on Jason Lee.
"I said the players afterwards, if they keep giving me that effort, then I'll look after them."
