MANAGER Dean Saunders has made his first signing by taking Swansea's U21 international Joe Allen on a month's loan.
The 18-year-old was signed this afternoon and in time to face York City at the Racecourse this evening.
A midfielder by trade, Joe will head back to south Wales later tonight to rejoin Brian Flynn's U21 squad that will face Engalnd at Ninian Park on Friday evening.
"I'm looking forward to it," said Joe speaking to BBC Wales. "It will be good to get some more game time under my belt."
He added: "I obviously know Dean Saunders from the Welsh set up.
"He's got the same philosophy as (Swans boss) Roberto Martinez in that he wants to play football the right way.
"He's got a good reputation in the game and has the utmost respect from the senior boys in the Welsh squad.
"He's also got a wealth of experience which hopefully I can tap into during my time at the Racecourse.''
The Swans secured the long-term future of one of their rising stars on a three-year contract back in August 2007.
The Narberth-product joined Swansea's junior set-up as a nine year old, progressing through the ranks to make his Football League debut in the final game of the 2006-07 season as a substitute against Blackpool.
His first start came in the Carling Cup win over Walsall at the start of last season and the Welsh Under-21 international turned in a man of the match performance - as he did in the following round against Premiership Reading.
Our thanks to Swansea City for their co-operation in completing Joe's deal in time to beat the 3.45pm deadline.
He will wear the number 30 shirt.
