SKIPPER Neil Taylor was delighted after the win at Mansfield, not just because it earned three welcome points, but as it reflected a new spirit in the squad.
"I've never played in a game like that before, where they've lumped everything at us," he said.
"Every Wrexham fan will know we've caved in most times before, conceding late goals and letting doubts creep in, but it's not like that any more.
"Ashley Westwood in particular was brilliant, but everyone did what they had to do to make sure we got the win.
"I think the manner in which we won it made it a huge three points. It was a massive, massive win.
"To come to Field Mill at any point of the season, whether you're doing well or you're losing, and get a result like that is really good.
"You could see from the off that they'd been given a bit of a rollicking after their recent poor results and were looking to turn us and get something early on, but I thought the way we performed today was brilliant."
Taylor more than played his part, making a couple of terrific interventions in the six yard box late on, but he was quick to give credit to his fellow defenders.
"They were important, but Ashley and Steve winning their headers was just as important," he said.
"If they'd kept losing headers then Mansfield would have been getting in more and more. I was just doing the job the gaffer wants me to do, covering round the back if anything got in behind them."
Neil also had to show his versatility, constantly shuttling between left back and left midfield!
"I went everywhere," he said.
"We had a few injuries, and then I don't know what team could keep bringing on subs as big as that!
"Each one just kept getting bigger and bigger as they came on!
"So I got shifted forwards to allow us to bring our own big man, Steve Evans, on, then Mike Williams didn't know what day it was and had to come off. We had to tell him everything, what the score was as he didn't know what happened!"
