THE heavy rain fall of the last few days has put pay to Saturday morning's Football League Puma Youth Alliance game with Stockport County.

The Cheshire club were due to be the visitors to Colliers Park for an 11.00 am kick-off, but the standing water on the pitches at the training ground have washed out the fixture.

"It's disappointing when you have prepared all week," said Stuart Webber.

"But even if we had played on, it would only have wrecked the pitches and that would help no one.

"All the groundstaff, plus other volunteers have been working on the Racecourse for the past two days, in a bid to make sure that the first team game goes ahead.

"With the amount of rain we have suffered recently, there was little chance of match for us this weekend."

The Youth team have one more scheduled game before their winter break, a trip to Walsall next weekend.
