Club Appeals Sam's Dismissal

Posted on: Thu 11 Dec 2008

AFTER reviewing Tuesday night's match DVD, especially the events surrounding Sam Williamson's dismissal in the final minute of normal time against Southport, the club has lodged an appeal against his sending off.

All the necessary paperwork and match coverage has been sent to the FAW in Cardiff and they will set this evidence before a Disciplinary Panel tomorrow.

When you appeal in such circumstances, you are really only asking whether a three-match ban is the correct punishment for his dismissal.

You are not questioning the referee's decision, which will always stand, and even if the Panel considers his sending off to be of sufficient punishment, the card and relevant disciplinary points will remain on the player's record.

Meanwhile, Sam's suspension and, that of Steve Evans, are due to start this Saturday - Jefferson Louis is already missing due to collecting five cautions and having to serve a one-match ban.
