THE New Saints have agreed terms with former Northern Ireland Under-21 international and Wrexham midfielder Conall Murtagh who signed forms today.

After making 50 Welsh Premier appearances for Connah's Quay and Rhyl, some impressive performances at Belle Vue caught the eye of Wrexham in the summer of 2007 and he was awarded a two-year deal.

The Dragons allowed Murtagh to complete a Physiology degree at Manchester University while he played part-time, and he was on the winning side which took Wrexham into the second round of League Cup, scoring a shoot-out penalty against First Division Port Vale, and appearing against Aston Villa at the next stage.

Conall made just four League Two appearances in Wrexham's relegation season and also spent two-months on-loan at Droylsden before completing his degree in June, but soon afterwards contracted viral meningitis.

Despite making a full recovery, another managerial change at The Racecourse has made it difficult for him to force his way back into the first-team reckoning and he asked manager Dean Saunders for a move to further his career.

After considering offers from "five or six clubs" in England and Wales, he held transfer talks with coach Andy Cale on Wednesday and today decided to join TNS.

The 23-year-old started his career with Ballymena United and Crusaders before being spotted by Hearts.

He made his Scottish League debut while on loan at Raith Rovers in January 2005 and, following his release from Tynecastle, spent pre-season with Sligo Rovers and Altrincham.
