THE Reds came up against a very strong Manchester City line-up at Carrington and ended up on the wrong end of a 5-0 scoreline, although the game was much closer than the result would suggest.
For new signing Aurelien Collin, it was an enjoyable experience.
"For those watching, it must have been a good game to attend," he said.
"Indeed, I enjoyed the experience against some very good players from Manchester City.
"Yes we lost, and City were good at taking their chances, but there were many positives we could take from the match."
Featuring for City was Bulgarian striker Valeri Bojinov, who ruptured his Achilles tendon in the warm-up ahead of the first league game of the season at Villa Park, this blow coming after he missed virtually all of 2007/08 with a cruciate ligament injury.
City boss Mark Hughes was glad to the see the 21-year-old back in action: "We arranged a behind-closed-doors game today, and we were looking for him to play a half or maybe even an hour.
"That will do him good, but he has been training at full tilt with the rest of the squad for a week now. He's looked good, but what he needs is games."
