A DRAMATIC finale to this afternoon's Youth Alliance game saw the Reds sink local rivals Chester City thanks to a 93rd minute winner from Obi Anoruo.
Having taken a lead in the first half, the visitors were pegged back moments before half time following a defensive mix up.
In the second period, and while Chester had a few chances themselves, it was the Welshmen who created a number of good openings, but having failed to captialise a draw was looking the most likely outcome.
Then deep into time added on, up stepped our leading scorer to bag another vital goal and send the team back to the top of the North-West Conference table.
It was Obi's shot from the right hand side of the box midway through the first half, which had pushed Wrexham in front and they looked like building on that advantage, until a slip up at the back.
Literally seconds before the break, centre half Kai Edwards was under prerssure as the ball refused to run out of play, so he played it back to his keeper, but Tom's hurried clearance was snapped up by a Chester striker. His effort was blocked by a retreating defence, but as the ball ran free on the edge of the box, a rising shot tore into the Wrexham net.
The second half was more even in terms of possession and both sides saw efforts cleared off the line, but as the game wore on it was Wrexham who were gaining the upper hand.
Jordan Kane's free kick on 60 minutes was blocked by the home keeper and he had to react quickly as the ball ran loose and Luke Carding closed in on him.
Defender Jack Jones had his effort from distance saved and Carding's header was well held by the Chester custodian.
With seven minutes remaining, Obi got to the line and pulled his cross back for substituite Jamie, but the schoolboy's well struck effort was blocked on the line by a defender.
Then just when it seemed we would have to settle for a point, Obi chased a ball down the right channel, used his strength to hold off his marker and from a tight angle fired in a shot that beat the keeper on his near post - sending the players wild with delight.
The referee still found another minute or two of added time to play, but the Reds held their hosts at bay and picked up another vital win.
