JON Brown enjoyed another fine match against Grays, capped by a superb free kick to earn the crucial second goal in a 3-1 win, just when the match was in the balance. However, he was quick to credit Dean Saunders with some of the credit for the goal.
"I was going to try the free kick I did against Northwich when Marc Williams scored from the rebound, where I turn and hit it. But I looked over to the boss and shouted at me to flick it over the wall into the top corner, so I did!
"We didn't really play our best football in the first half because it was a difficult pitch and difficult conditions, but thankfully we got the win in the end.
"The Gaffer's been saying the midfielders have got to start getting more goals, and we did it today. That's four for the season for me and I'm aiming for double figures.
"There's real confidence in the team and we're fitter than the other teams in the division-The Gaffer keeps telling us that-and it does show in the second half when the other teams tire.
"Grays worked really ahrd in the first half and he said at half time that they're going to blow up, and they did!
"We knew if we kept playing our football in the second half then the goals would come."
