MICHAEL Proctor might have been glad to get a start having been out of the side for so long, but it didn't show after the 1-0 defeat at Eastbourne as his over-riding feeling was one at dismay.
"It was a disappointing afternoon," he said. "I think in the first half we weren't too bad but in the second half we know it just wasn't good enough.
"That's another three points that we've let slip away, so it's very disappointing.
"I was pleased to get a start but that doesn't really count for anything really. We got back on the bus with no points from a game which we really believe we should have won.
"We haven't performed to the standards that the manager expects of us and that we expect of us, so it's a massive disappointment.
"There wasn't a lot of service to the strikers, but that was the sort of game it was. It was very scrappy but they're the sort of games where we've got to dig in.
"If chances aren't being created then we have to dig in and get a nil-nil, but we haven't been able to do that for the last two games in a row either.
"I think all across the park we didn't perform too well, we certainly didn't live up to our own abilities.
"I think if you look at any team, throughout the course of the season they're going to have a blip and it depends on the strength of character within the squad how they get through it.
"I'm confident with the lads that we've got here and the team spirit we've got here that we'll be able to come out of the other side and be all the better for it.
"Hopefully, we'll see a different Wrexham against Forest Green, because if we play like that again it just won't be good enough. We have to see a different Wrexham, there's no two ways about it.
"We've got to be better than that, we've got to create more chances than that and if the chances come along we've got to take them.
"We've got to be better. Simple as that."
