THE Young Dragons maintained their lead at the top of the Football League Youth Alliance - North West Conference - following a 1-0 success away to Bury at the weekend.
Midfielder Rob Pearson was the goalscorer on an afternoon when the Reds dominated their hosts but failed to push home their advantage on the pitch.
The only goal came about thanks to a Jack Jones pass over the top of the Shakers' defence, which allowed Rob to race through their defence and slot home after 25 minutes.
"On another day we could have run a big score," said coach Stuart Webber.
"Then as happens in these circumstances, with only a slender lead, we were on the back foot in the closing stages having to defend!
"Still it was a win and with both Carlisle and Burnley also wining their games by a single goal, it's as you were in the table.
"Next Saturday morning will be a crucial one for us, as we entertain Burnley at Colliers Park, while Carlisle have a tricky visit to Macclesfield Town."
