WREXHAM gained a small measure of revenge for their six-goal mauling at Reaseheath earlier this year with a narrow victory over their Cheshire neighbours.
The win came courtesy of Steve Abbott's first-half goal, in what proved a game of few clear cut chances at a gloriously sunny Colliers Park.
Sam Aiston pushed his claims for a return to first-team action with a fine performance, carving out a good opportunity for Abbott on 21 minutes but the former Team Bath striker's header was deflected behind for a corner.
The only goal arrived four minutes before the interval when Darran Kempson did well to head a corner back towards the Crewe goal. Jefferson Louis's flick-on fell kindly for Abbott who managed to bundle the ball past keeper Adam Legzdins from close range.
Wrexham: Chris Maxwell (Gavin Ward 45), Kyle Critchell (Chris Marriott 60), Neil Taylor, Mansour Assoumani, Darran Kempson, Silvio Spann, Christian Gyan, Tom Kearney, Sam Aiston, Jefferson Louis (Obi Anoruo 63), Steve Abbott.
