AS the Youth team prepared for this Saturday's crucial encounter with Burnley at Colliers Park (11.00), they received a major boost to their title aspirations as Carlisle United lost for only the third time this season at Preston North End on Wednesday.
The Cumbrians now have only one game in hand and sit three points behind the Dragons, but there is also another threat from the Clarets, who are eight points behind with five games in hand.
Wrexham have just four matches left in the campaign, starting with the visit of Burnley tomorrow morning and coach Stuart Webber is looking forward to the challenge.
"Preston actually play a big part in the final run in, as we also have to face them and Burnley need to play them twice!" he said.
"It's been a great season so far and it would be a big achievement for the lads to actually go on and lift the title.
"This is a very tough division though with 17 other clubs, including a number from either the Premiership or Championship, so to be as competitive as we have been, does speaks volumes for our squad.
"Also we have been missing a few of our more exprienced players in recent weeks, like our leading scorer Obi Anoruo, as they look to move onto the next level in their career development, meaning we have started to introduce new faces from our U16s.
"It has been a very enjoyable season so far and now we look to push on, to see just what we can achieve over these final weeks of the campaign."
If you are doing nothing else on Saturday morning, then admission is free at Colliers Park.
