THE relief at getting a first home win since Valentine's Day was obvious after the Mansfield game, but for Neil Taylor and the rest of the defence, a more important achievement was the clean sheet.
"It was a bit of a relief to get the win. I don't think it was pretty, but it was a win and most importantly it was a clean sheet, which was our main priority. I couldn't remember when our last clean sheet was.
"When we had that long unbeaten run that was what we were working on, because a clean sheet gives you that base to work from.
"If you're going to get a run going you need to keep clean sheets, and obviously it helps if you take your chances at the other end when you're on top of the game.
"Overall the game panned out really well for us."
Taylor nearly hit the net at the other end with a fine effort from the edge of the area which scraped the post.
"It looked like it was in when I hit it. I thought it was going to bend at the last moment, but I didn't put enough bend on it! I like to get forward, especially when I'm playing down the left.
"When I'm playing on the right I'm not able to do that as much, as it's the opposite side for me. On the left I try to get forward as much as I can."
However, his scope to go scampering down the left flank was curtailed when an injury to John Curtis meant he had to switch flanks.
"It was a bit of a shame, but it's not about me, it's about the team, and if I'm needed to go across and play at right back then that's what I'll do.
"It's about doing a job for the team and making sure they don't score a goal because, first and foremost, that's my responsibility."
So what about the Histon game on Tuesday?
"It'll be like the Mansfield game times ten!
"They'll be bigger and stronger than Mansfield, but today was a really big confidence boost in terms of keeping a clean sheet.
"In terms of the back line I don't think we were even bothered about what happened at the other end of the pitch.
"We just concentrated on organising all the time and keeping that clean sheet and we're looking forwards to continuing that work against Histon."
