AFTER the disappointment of defeat at Kettering, defender Neil Taylor was keen to pay tribute to those fans who travelled to the Midlands to watch what was in effect a dead rubber.
Once again around two hundred Dragons fans made the journey despite there being nothing to play for: remember The Racecourse has only seen that number of away fans once all season!
"The support we got was terrific again. I just hope they'll keep coming, and hopefully we'll be able to give them a lot more to shout about," said the Wales U21 international.
"We were able to do that early this season, and we're not now yet they're still coming. We know that's what Wrexham fans are like; they've been incredibly loyal for years, not just now.
Home and away they're great fans and hopefully they'll be making their third trip to Ebbsfleet and they'll come on Sunday as well."
Sadly the team weren't able to reward the fans with a victory though.
"It's not the result we were looking for today," said Neil.
"We were really hoping to be able to bounce back after the way things have gone in our last few games and get something from the game.
"Maybe we would have been fortunate to get a win, but we certainly shouldn't have been beaten. If we could put the ball in the net, we'd have got something from it.
"The goal was awful, typical of those we've been conceding for the last couple of months.
"We shouldn't be conceding goals like that, it gets us off to a bad start, which was especially frustrating as I thought we started off fairly well.
"I thought it was a good game in the first half, but giving away a soft goal gave them a real boost and proved to be decisive.
"We had plenty of good possession in both halves. Maybe we were reluctant to pull the trigger and we certainly didn't test the keeper enough or put enough good crosses in.
"We should have done better in the final third today, as our build-up play was good. We also should have done better at the back as well though.
"There's no such thing as a dead game. You can learn something from every game, you're always learning.
"You can look at the performances of different players, how they play in different positions, and different formations.
"I think the Gaffer's learning a lot more about his players now than when we were flying!
"Also, we have got to do as well as we can in our last two games. The least we can do is go out with a bit of a bang."
