Marc Makes It A Cleansweep
THE Wrexham Supporters Federation held their annual awards dinner on Sunday and it proved to be another very enjoyable day for all who attended.
This is the opportunity for the various supporters groups to get together and acknowledge the players who have contributed during the previous season.
In total, seven different 'Player of Season Awards' were made, together with various other awards.
It won't come as much of a surprise that one player dominated the voting!
Although still on his crutches while recovering from a broken metatarsal bone, striker Marc Williams made it a cleansweep and he also doubled up by winning the Official Supporters Association's 'Young Player of the Year' - the first time the same player has picked up both trophies in the same season!
In total the won the PoY awards presented by:
Supporters Association
Wrexham Supporters Trust
Shropshire Reds
Kings Mills Reds
Holywell Reds
Buckley & District Reds
Mold & District Reds
In addition, the Manx Reds flew across for the afternoon and made two awards - Most Promising Player went to Obi Anoruo - and a Long Service Award was made to Brian Carey.
The Evening Leader's David Lovett award for the 'Unsung Hero' went to the dumbstruck Les Evans, for his years of service as the Leader's football photographer and now official club photographer.
Former Wolves and Burnley striker Steve Kindon was the guest speaker on the day and he fully lived up to his high reputation as an excellent after dinner speaker.
A big thank you also to Phil Bennett and his staff at the Centenary Club for their tremendous service throughout the afternoon.
