THE latest player to be official told that he is being released is midfielder Levi Mackin, who has spent the last four months on loan with York City.

Based in Chester, he came through the youth ranks at the Racecourse, progressing to a professional contract and playing in 61 league games since making his debut at Wycombe in April 2004.

Only just turned 23, Levi switched to Botham Crescent in the last window and helped Martin Foyle's side to BSP safety before turning out at Wembley in the final of the FA Trophy.

He played against Stevenage Borough in front of 27,000 fans and it was only a late own goal from a City defender that finally put the game beyond the Minstermen.

There was also a loan spell with Droylsden, then a BSP club, in 2007/08, when he played 12 times for the Bloods, scoring his first senior goal in their 2-1 home defeat to Torquay United.

After returning to the Racecourse, Levi scored his first Wrexham goal, away at Lincoln City in our last match before dropping into the Conference and he also hit a cracker at Grays Athletic in September, as we looked to pull back a two goal deficit.

Before heading to York, his final game for the Dragons came as a late substitute away to Kidderminster Harriers last November.

While never the star of the side, Levi always worked hard for his chance and never put in less than his all when call upon to play - whether it was the first team or reserves.

A good, honest professional and well respected by his team mates.

We thank Levi for his efforts over the years and wish him well for the future. Hopefully, he will find a new team quickly.
