WE are delighted to confirm that a Wolverhampton Wanderers XI will be playing at the Racecourse on Wednesday, 5 August (7.30).

This will also be our last pre-season game before the season kicks off the following Saturday.

Newly promoted back to the Premiership, Wolves are heading to Australia for a two-match tour before facing the likes of Walsall (July 21), Bristol City (July 25), MK Dons (July 28), Doncaster (August 1) and Scunthorpe (August 4).

Meanwhile, a Wolves XI - which could be a mixture of first teamers and Development players depending on availability - has been booked in for a further four fixtures.

The first game is at Kidderminster on July 18 (3pm), followed by Hereford on July 25 (3pm), Crewe on July 29 (7.30pm) and then Wrexham.

"We are pleased with the selection of games which will provide us with some good opposition," said Development coach Steve Weaver.

"The schedule has been designed to ensure all our professional players get the relevant time needed on the pitch to ensure they are fully prepared for the new season."

With something like 28 pros already on their books for next season, and that's without any summer signings, Wolves are well placed to field some very strong line-ups during their warm up games.

Last summer the Midlanders visited North Wales for a friendly and although they lost that day, it was the end of September before they tasted defeat again!

Once more, our opponents have graciously agreed to donate their match fee towards our Centre of Excellence funds and we are happy to acknowledge this gesture.

Confirmed Friendlies:
