Anything But A Greek Tragedy
FORMER Wrexham striker Matt Derbyshire has completed the formalities of his move from Blackburn Rovers to Olympiakos.
The 23-year-old joined the Greek side on a six-month loan deal back in January and had already been the subject of a reported £3m bid.
He scored 11 goals for the league and cup winners after moving to Greece.
Derbyshire, who made 17 appearances for Blackburn in the Premier League last season, scoring twice, has signed a four-year contract.
The England Under-21 international scored twice for his new employers in the Greek Cup final win over AEK Athens in May.
Following a frustrating loan spell with Plymouth Argyle, the Blackburn-born forward switched to the Racecourse in January 2006 and never looked back.
He scored twice on his debut against Rushden & Diamonds and went on to record 10 goals in 16 matches for the Dragons, before returning to Ewood Park and place in the England U21 line-up.
