FOLLOWING the Swindon Town game Gareth Taylor was philosophical about our unfortunate exit from the FA Cup at the hands of the League One club.
"A few of the elder statesmen and the staff in the dressing room, were saying after the match that we had to draw heart from that performance," he said.
"We got nothing out of it, but we should have done, as their keeper was arguably the best player in the game.
"He made four or five great saves during the game. He stopped one from me early on, which I thought was an excellent save, and he just got better and better.
"We had chances even after losing Christian Smith, but we came undone from a set piece again - which was an absolute killer."
Christian Smith's dismissal, ten minutes into the second period, was undoubtedly a key moment in the game, although Wrexham continued to enjoy more possession and create more chances despite their handicap.
Anyone who saw the challenge on ITV's highlights programme that night, will have seen why a red card was brandished and Taylor certainly had no complaints.
"I was close to it and it didn't look too pleasant, although he did catch a bit of the ball," said Gareth.
"He caught the top of it and sort of went over the top a little bit as well, so we can have no huge complaints. I don't think it was one of those where you think he should never have been sent off."
After our travails in the Conference, it was good to see Wrexham follow up the encouraging performance against Kidderminster the previous Tuesday. The ball was passed around with the same fluency and the players certainly looked confident with the ball at their feet.
"We were able to approach the game in a positive manner, and that transmits itself to the fans," said the striker.
"They were right behind us today, were superb and gave us a really good reception at the end as well. They could see that we really worked hard and on another day we could have won it comfortably.
"At the end of it we really should have come away with at least a replay, but that's the FA Cup for you!
"It's a little frustrating to have put three good performances in, but not have a win to show from them.
"Now we've got a big game against Forest Green and it's important we get back to winning ways, because it'll then be the run into Christmas and the games will be coming thick and fast.
"It's difficult because there were a lot of lads in the changing room after the Swindon game who were down, myself included, but we've just got to take heart from that performance and go onto transfer these performances into results."
