ASHLEY Westwood was frustrated by Wrexham's inability to make second half pressure count at Luton Town as The Dragons slipped to a 1-0 defeat.
"It's always going to be hard if you go one-nil down away from home, especially against a strong team," he said.
"Luton are a top three side and if you give a side that's going well like that a head start then it's always going to be hard to get into the game.
"We stepped it up in the second half, and I think that on another day we might have come away from the game with a draw. They were hanging on a little bit at the end but we just didn't get the luck, and that's the story of the game to be honest!
"They put us under a lot of pressure. They took the impetus, being the home side, and they came at us very strong in the first half.
"We weathered it though; they put a lot of crosses in but we seemed to defend them pretty well. Then we had a lapse for the goal, obviously, and we were up against it.
"We're not letting many in, but the odd goal here or there is costing us. While we're defending well, the clean sheets are just getting away from us, and that's costing us points.
"Away from home it's always going to be tough; naturally teams are always going to be looking to get at us. However, we're working very hard at trying to get back into the habit of keeping clean sheets again.
"We shouldn't be relying on getting clean sheets to get results though. We need to be scoring a few more goals as well.
"Having said that, Luton was always going to be a tough place to come, and we need to make sure we get results against sides who are not doing so well in the table.
"The way the fixtures are coming thick and fast doesn't help us, as it doesn't allow us to work on things as much as we'd like in training.
"With games regularly coming up on the Tuesdays, we go to train on the Monday but we can't work too hard as then you'll be leggy for the following evening.
"So you have to rely more on your own ability, hope we can click on the pitch and string it together quickly.
"Two or three wins on the spin would make the table look a whole lot different. We just need to take every game as it comes and look to get as many points as possible by the end of the season."
