Posted on: Sun 05 Sep 2010

Live up dates from Newport Stadium on a wet afternoon - press F5 to refresh

FT: 1-1 - A tremendous performance, especially with 10 men for virtually the whole of the second half and some disappointment that their leveller came so late.

90+5 Booking - Wrexham - Smith

90+4 - A Wrexham foul as KP felled in his own box.

90+2 - All hands to the pump as County flood forward in search of a winner.

90 - Five minutes of added time indicated.

88 - 1-1 Newport - DARRYL KNIGHTS - A slip in the Wrexham defence saw the ball run loose to the winger and he made no mistake from close range.

86 - Reds on the back foot as it's now kitchen sink time!

85 - Foley good cross from their left, but Sinclair in between two County forwards to head behind.

81 - Mangan chases a long ball to the line, holds it up and spots Gall arriving at the back post, the winger slides in and fires into the side netting.

80 - Two headers for County as they twice stretch the Wrexham defence, but Shearer takes both efforts.

76 - Subs - Newport - Tony Taggart for Robbie Matthews & Darryl Knights for Charlie Henry.

75 - A long ball out to Danny Rose and a great volley was tipped over by Shearer, the corner also knocked clear!

73 - Sub - Wrexham - Andy Mangan on for the hard working Morrell.

72 - County work space well and as ball sits up for Eddie Odhiambo who from 18 yards fires low, which forced Shearer into a diving save.

67 - Booking - Wrexham - KP for a foul.

66 - Sub - Newport - Sam Foley on for winger Morgan.

58 - A County corner was sent long and Gary Warren did get his head to the cross but it was only a glancing touch.

55 - Still looking to go on the attack and Keates at the centre of most things.

50 - Now County are not happy as Keates makes a strong, but seemingly fair challenge, to send the ball deep, but Danny Rose ended up in a heap.

49 - Obeng receives treatment but can carry on. Smith drops to centre half and Sinclair switches to left back as a result of dropping to 10-men.

47 - Reid hits the cross bar from 12-yards, he seemed to slip as he took the kick, the ball bouncing back into play and Sinclair hammering it out of play - phew!

46 - Penalty - Newport - As Ashton appeared to nudge Charlie Hendry from behind. This came after KP had miss judged a bouncing ball on the wing and County broke into the box.

14.04 - Second half underway - no changes.

HT 1-0 Wrexham - After a shaky opening period, the Reds have adapted well to the difficult conditions and have been the better side.

45+ 1 - A good build up down the right saw the ball set up for Smith, but he was woefully off target with an effort from the edge of the box.

43 - Craig Reid goes up for a challenge with Jay Harris and comes off the worse - needing a couple of minutes of treatment!

39 - A lovely ball out to Neil Ashton was knocked into the home box and forced a corner as the returning defenders were just glad to hammer the ball out of the play. The cross was delivered and KP was only inches away from meeting it with his head.

38 - Keeper Thompson made amends for conceding a free kick for handball as he slide out of the box, but Keates' shot found its way through the wall and the stopper did well to grab it under pressure.

37 - One-way traffic with Dean Keates and Christian Smith bossing things.

33 - Wrexham enjoying a good spell of possession and pressure, pinning County back into their own half.

27 - A Dean Keates quick free kick from the centre circle was aimed at Morrell who got round his marker, but was blocked by the keeper on the edge of the box.

23 1-0 Wrexham - ANDY MORRELL - A long throw in from Obeng was only partially  cleared and from the edge of the box the Wrexham striker tried his luck and got lucky as hit deflected up and over Glyn Thompson for his 100 goal.

21 - A scary moment as a dreadful back pass from the wing was aimed at Shearer, but the keeper hesitated and in rushed Morgan. The ball deflected off him, spun towards the Wrexham goal and somehow passed the right side of a post, for which the referee gave a corner.

20 - A long Wrexham throw was met by Nat Knight-Percival at the near post, but put wide.

19 - First Wrexham threat on the home goal, as Andy Morrell found Kevin Gall on the right wing, his deep cross was attacked by Dean Keates, but he only found the side netting.

14 - Obeng slipped and diverted the ball into the path of Morgan, but the winger fared little better and slost his own footing.

12 - Robbie Matthews found himself with a clear shot at goal from six-yards, when a clearance deflects off a Wrexham leg and into his path, but the former Kidderminster forward could only fire right across the face of the goal.

08 - Kerry Morgan's quick feet on the left wing saw him retrieve a long ball out to him and he won a corner off Curtis Obeng.

05 - A Newport corner bounced through low on the slippy surface, but Scott Shearer was able to save with his hands.

02 - Game underway with Wrexham wearing their all blue kit.

13: 00 Teams out on the pitch

12:45 Panic - Marvin Andrews is troubled by the same dead leg/hamstring that forced him off on Monday afternoon and he will not be able to play today - in comes Frank Sinclair, while Declan Walker is summoned from the stands to take over on the bench.

12:30 Quite surprising how many of the locals are already in their seats with over 30 minutes to kick-off, must be half the grandstand occupied.

12:25 Rain still pouring down onto the Newport Stadium pitch, with the Wrexham fans in one corner of the far terracing, on the same side as the TV cameras. At least they are the least likey to get wet with the rain blowing from the north.

12:20 Same starting line-up as at Bath on Monday, although both Frank Sinclair and Andy Mangan return to the bench after injury.

12:15 Team news just on their way.
