NEW YEAR'S DAY opponents Blackpool have today sold leading goal scorer Scott Taylor to Plymouth Argyle for a fee reported to be £100,000.
The 28-year-old striker, who joined Pool from Stockport in January 2002, scored 61 goals in 115 starts for the Tangerines including 27 last year when injury cut short his season in February.
Taylor wanted to move away from Bloomfield Road during the summer, to be closer to his ill father, and after the club had rejected offers from Wycombe and Sheffield Wednesday, the former Millwall man requested a move.
Following the uncertainty Taylor, who was in the final year of his contract with the club, showed last season was no fluke netting 14 goals in 27 starts.
Plymouth boss Bobby Williamson, speaking on Argyle's official website, said: "He's a player I have been after for a while.
"He's a proven goalscorer in the lower divisions and now we are giving him the opportunity to see if he can do it in the higher divisions.
"I'm sure he is a player who will excite our fans. He's got good movement and has shown he can find the back of the net. That is uppermost in the criteria for strikers - the rest of his play can be worked on.
"As well as his movement and knowing where the back of the net is, he's got decent pace, and those are the right attributes for a striker."
