Opposing View - John Coleman

Posted on: Mon 01 Jan 2007

Accrington StanleyA delighted Accrington manager John Coleman reflected on his side's first league victory in eleven attempts, after winning 3-1 at Wrexham.

"The lads realised how important it was to pick up the points and they did what was required to secure the win," he said.

"The rest of the season is going to be a long hard scrap and there will be six or seven teams, if we can have a say about, will be in this fight. We have to now make sure we get our heads above them and don't start putting pressure on ourselves.

"We only had 12 fit pros available today and four youth players on the bench, but I would have had no hesitation in putting them on. You have to trust them, otherwise what's the point of having them on the bench in the first place.

"Now through we should have players back from suspension and I'm hoping to sign two this week and at least another couple next week, so we will have stronger squad which can go on and compete in the second half of the season."
