AFTER the disappointment of losing out to Derby County in this season's FA Cup, Wrexham fans will at least take some comfort from seeing former striker Matt Derbyshire continuing to fulfil the potential he showed in a red shirt last year.

Now establishing himself in Mark Hughes' first team at Blackburn Rovers, the youngster added another goal to his record with the opening strike in their third round tie at Goodison Park to help knock Everton out of the competition.

Blackburn went onto build-up a three-goal advantage before half time and although the Blues did pull one back after the interval they could not claw their way back into the match, eventually going down 4-1 by the final whistle.

Matt's goal came after just five minutes, after Morten Gamst Pedersen powered in a shot from 30 yards, but Tim Howard could not hold onto the ball and Derbyshire was on hand to force it over the line for his second goal in a Rovers shirt.
