WREXHAM PONDER MOHAMED CONTRACT
BBC Sport
Wrexham manager Brian Carey says he will decide this week whether to offer trialist Kaid Mohamed a Dragons deal.
"We're looking at the situation," he said after seeing Mohamed star with a brace in the 4-1 win at Dungannon.
"He's done as much as he can to impress me and has fitted in well. He offers us something different and made problems for defenders every time he's come on."
The 22-year-old striker from Caerau Ely has scored three goals in four Wrexham games, including one against Blackburn.
Mohamed chose to leave Welsh Premier side Carmarthen Town in the summer, having scored two goals in May's 3-1 Welsh Cup final win over Afan Lido.
He notched 32 goals in 79 Welsh Premier games after making his debut for Cwmbran Town at the age of 18.
Mohamed moved to Llanelli two years later, but really made his mark at Carmarthen with 21 goals last season, enough for former Old Gold manager Mark Jones to recommend him to Carey.
"I've really enjoyed the trial period, I'm happy with my performances and was over the moon with the way I took the goals at Dungannon," Mohamed told BBC Sport Wales.
"I liked my time at Carmarthen but now I want to go to the next level, being a full-time professional is my target.
"Brian [Carey] hasn't said much about my chances, he's just told me not to worry about it and to go out and enjoy myself on the pitch."
Carey feels that his pre-season preparations have been a success, the tour of Northern Ireland yielding two wins out of two, against Cliftonville and Dungannon.
"Things have gone well so far and we had a productive week away," said Carey.
"The players have enjoyed it and we've benefited from getting our signings completed early in the summer.
"We've brought in a lot of experienced guys who've shown what they can do, while the youngsters have stepped up to the mark.
"I'm monitoring a couple of other situations as well as Mohamed's, but it's a case of waiting on other people.
"Something may happen, but if not we'll go with what we've got and I'll be quite happy with that."

Swifts completed their preparations for the second leg UEFA Cup trip to Lithuania at Stangmore Park, but they won't be unduly concerned at the result as manager Harry Fay was sensibly using the game for experimental purposes.
Wrexham impressed in the opening minutes and, after a couple of half chances, created the first clear goal scoring opportunity when a pass from Matty Done triggered the Dungannon offside trap prematurely, allowing trialist striker Kiad Mohamed to run in at goal. Dwayne Nelson came off his line to narrow the angle but the Carmarthen Town player slid a shot beyond the keeper but crucially the right post too.
Wrexham had further scoring chances, the best a free from Done on nine minutes that brought a save from Nelson, before Dungannon enjoyed a period on top midway through the opening period.
As the half progressed, both offences had chances to make the breakthrough. For the League Two side, Evans headed Northern Ireland international Mike Carvill's corner over the left stanchion, while McAllister and Terry Fitzpatrick had the best of the Swifts plays.
On 39 minutes McAllister latched onto a long pass from Campbell and ran between defenders only to see his low shot was stopped by a full-stretch save from keeper Michael Jones, while Fitzpatrick's effort was too weak and straight at the keeper two minutes later.
The Red Dragons made the breakthrough on the stroke of halftime, Mohamed with a stunning left-footed finish after Marc Williams' headed pass.
Wrexham could well have doubled their lead before the interval when Done, Williams and Evans all had unsuccessful shots at the Swifts goal.
Ten minutes into the second half Wrexham scored a second goal after poor defending allowed a prolonged attack by the Welshmen. A cross from Done on the left was slammed home by Williams from the right edge of the home box.
A third goal followed on 66 minutes when Mark Jones, seconds after being introduced, crossed for Mohamed to flick past Nelson.
Swifts had a chance to reduce the deficit moments after falling three behind when Hegarty set Niall McGinn up. A low shot from just beyond the right post was knocked behind by the visiting keeper.
Wrexham added a fourth goal after 73 minutes when Williams stabbed a cross from Simon Spender in from point blank range with McGinn spurning a reply two minutes later.
Swifts had been working hard and deserved the goal from captain Shane McCabe on 79 minutes. Mark Magennis, only on the field a couple of minutes, was the architect of the attack with McCabe blasting a 20 yard volley after Magennis supplied from the left.
