Match Preview - Shrewsbury Town
League Two's out-of-form teams face each other on Sunday as WREXHAM host Shrewsbury Town at the Racecourse. (12.00pm)
The Dragons seemed to be heading for their first league draw of the season after Silvio Spann's superb strike levelled matters away to Notts County last week.
However, Spann turned from hero to villain as he gained a straight red card for bundling over striker Hector Sam, who was clean through on goal. Neil MacKenzie smashed home the free-kick to consign Wrexham to another away defeat, again in the dying seconds of the game.
Shrewsbury make the short trip to North Wales similarly hoping for a win to kick-start their season. Although Gary Peters' side sit in the relative comfort of midtable at present, they have struggled of late, gaining just three points from the last 21 available.
Fans voiced their frustration last weekend as the Shrews failed to break down bottom club Mansfield Town at The New Meadow. The away side had to play the second half with ten men after defender John Mullins was dismissed for two bookable offences. Mainly thanks to 'keeper Carl Muggleton, the Stags held out for a 0-0 draw and moved out of the relegation zone at the expense of ourselves and Lincoln City.
Shrewsbury's last victory came back in September when they defeated Accrington Stanley 2-0, thanks to goals from Shane Nicholson and Dave Hibbert. Similarly, Wrexham's last victory came at Stanley's expense when Neil Roberts' brace resulted in the first away win of the season.
Brian Carey will have to make changes to his line-up this weekend, with his side hit with injuries and suspension. Mark Jones is definitely out with a back injury, along with Danny Williams who is a long-term absentee with a similar problem.
Another midfielder missing will be Silvio Spann who will serve a one-match ban after his late sending off at Meadow Lane, but into the side will come new loan signing Matty Collins from Swansea City.
Last Time Out
The last meeting between the clubs took place back in April, with Wrexham battling relegation and Shrewsbury looking to secure a playoff place. Michael Proctor's late strike secured a vital away victory in the final visit to Gay Meadow.
Town took the points when they visited the Racecourse two months earlier. The Dragons never got going in the first half and were 2-0 down after 38 minutes, Derek Asamoah and Leo Fortune-West with the goals. Steve Evans was then sent off just before half time, virtually ending the match as a contest. Fortune-West added another after the break, before Danny Williams' replied with a superb long range effort.

If you think the lads can bounce back against Shrewsbury Town and grab a valuable three points, why not back them at 6/4?
