Match Preview - Rotherham United
WREXHAM will need a much improved performance this weekend as they take on promotion-chasing Rotherham United at Millmoor.
The Dragons went down 3-1 last week against a struggling Brentford outfit, who were able to put an end to their losing streak of five matches. Despite taking the lead in the first half through Chris Llewellyn, Brian Little's side struggled throughout and once Alan Connell scored the away side's third goal, fans left the Racecourse in their droves.
The result leaves the Dragons in 23rd position in League Two, two points clear of bottom club Mansfield Town, who have a game in hand.
Rotherham United have no such problems as they look to gain promotion back to League One after relegation last season. Mark Robins' side currently lie in 5th position in the league, and have a game in hand due to last week's fixture against Bradford City being postponed due to a frozen pitch.
Rotherham's excellent run of form was halted by Rochdale in their last game, as they slumped to a 4-2 home defeat. The goals were flying in early on, as the Millers levelled the game at 2-2 after only 16 minutes. However, Rochdale were not to be denied the victory and secured all three points after goals from Glenn Murray and Lee McEvilly.
Manager Mark Robins was named November's Manager of the Month after his side's impressive run of form. The Millers claimed victories over Grimsby Town, Bury, Accrington Stanley and Shrewsbury Town last month - though slumped to a shock defeat against Forest Green in the FA Cup, losing 3-0 at home in their First Round replay.
Top scorer for the Millers so far this season is forward Chris O'Grady, who has found the net seven times in all competitions. The 21-year-old striker had spells at Notts County and Rushden & Diamonds before joining Rotherham United from Leicester City last season.
Brian Little is likely to change things around once more after the defeat to Brentford. Robbie Garrett dropped to the bench last week after Mark Jones came back into the side following a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Both may feature against Rotherham however after fellow midfielder Silvio Spann picked up an injury during the first half last week.
Michael Proctor may also return to the starting line-up after featuring from the sub's bench against the Bees. The striker scored twice against an Everton XI in midweek, in a side that also featured Neil Roberts, Sam Aiston, Mark Jones and Josh Johnson.
Last Time Out
This is the second meeting between the sides in the league this season, after the Millers' visit to the Racecourse back in September. Chances were at a premium in a drab encounter but Rotherham made the breakthrough after introducing striker O'Grady as a second half substitute. Andy Todd broke through and crossed for O'Grady to hammer the winner past Anthony Williams with 12 minutes remaining.
