Josh Johnson might be shy and retiring off the pitch, but on his day he can trouble the best defenders League Two has to offer.
A free-scoring right winger for San Juan Jablodeh in his native Trinidad, Johnson came to Wrexham for a trial in the Summer of 2006 and caught the eye with a fine performance in a friendly against Manchester City.
Denis Smith moved quickly to secure the funding and work permit necessary to allow Johnson to stay at the club, but his early performances betrayed a naive approach and he was consigned to the reserves for a spell to acclimatise to the rough and tumble of the British game.
However, he showed promise with a rare start on the left at Birmingham City and another performance on the wrong flank at Notts County, when his pace caused terrific problems and he set up a goal for Chris Llewelyn, started a period of greater involvement in the first team.
His late cameo at Derby County helped to launch a rousing fight-back and he notched his first goal in British football when he cooly lifted the ball over Accrington's keeper in a 3-1 defeat.
