A former England U19 international defender, Curtis was an early of victim of the revolution taking place at the City of Manchester Stadium.

With an influx of expensive and highly paid talent, there was really no place to go for the lastes crop of young professionals and he was released in the summer of 2009.

Trials followed at such clubs as Celtic and Wigan Athletic, but in the end the patience of manager Dean Saunders was finally rewarded when he capture the Manchester-born full back on a two-year contract.

Without a senior appearance at City, he is already quickly becoming a favourite with the Racecourse faithful.

Curtis was rewarded with a call up to the England C squad during 2010, playing against both East of Scotland and Ireland.
